Fjärdlång

The island of Fjärdlång, in the southern archipelago of Stockholm, is a nature reserve with many animals that make their homes in the woods, meadows and smooth rocks.

In 1909 the art collector Ernst Thiel bought the entire island and the Thielska Villan (villa) was built as a summer-residence and to give the family’s children fresh air.

The hostel consists of several buildings in addition to the villa.

In the Thielska villan there are three six-bed-rooms and two four-bed-rooms, only bunk-beds. You share the kitchen and dining-room with other guests. The villa is located on a mountain and there is no real road up to the villa. The shower-house is located down the hill from the villa. No WC in the house or on the island, only toilets outside.

Fågelhusen (the Bird-houses) is four four-bed-cottages next to the villa, bunk-beds. You use the kitchen and dining-room in the villa.

In Långstugan (the Long cottage) there is eight two-bed-room, there is a fridge and a small stove in each room, bunk-bed. At the end of the house there is the “summer-wash” with warm and cold water. It is located only about 100 meters from the water with a beautiful view. The toilets are about 100 meter away. Shower-house near the villa about 350 meter away.

In Familjestugan (the Family-cottage) there is two two-bed-room, fridge and stove in both rooms.

Information about the island:

Tysta Klint (Silent Cliff), the highest point on the island, lies 36 m above sea level and is a natural viewing platform looking over the outer archipelago. The island is consciously unexploited to preserve the genuine and beautiful nature of the archipelago. The sea eagle and moose are just some of the animals that make their home on the island.
Leisure fishing is free in the Stockholm archipelago and there are plenty of fishing opportunities from the rocks or by boat. Canoes and boats are available to rent, and from Fjärdlång it’s easy to take day trips to the islands of Huvudskär, Utö, Ornö and Kymmenö

Breakfast: You can book breakfast in the café, price 70 kr/adult, 35 kr/child (age 3-13), breakfast is served 08.00-09.30.
