Huvudskär

The island of Huvudskär in the southern archipelago of Stockholm. It is the last island before open water to Polen. The island is a nature reserve with smooth rocks; here you can see seal, sea-eagle and a lot of sea-bird. On the highest point the light-house stands, guiding ship through the night.

History:
Huvudskär is known since the 1400s century as a fishing ground. At the year of 1719 the Russians burnt down all buildings on the island and many other islands in the area. During a period from the middle of 1800´s Huvudskär became a lighthouse station with custom and pilot staff.
It is in the old Tullhuset (the custom-family-house) we have apartments to rent.

Apartments:
Mästerlotsen: Two room with a kitchen, six beds. Price 1350 kr/night.
Tullkammaren: One room with a kitchen, four bed. Price 900 kr/night.
Utsikten: One room with a kitchen, four bed. Price 900 kr/night.
Fyrvaktaren: two rooms and a kitchen, tree bed in each room and two beds in the kitchen, price 1800 kr/night.
You can also rent one room separate in Fyrvaktaren, three beds, sharing kitchen with the other room (no one can use the beds in the kitchen when sharing kitchen). Price 600 kr/room and night.

Extra bed: 150 kr/night.

Information:
No water in the house, there is a well with fresh water on Lötskär. No electricity on the island. Stove and fridge run on bottled gas. Lamp runs by solar energy. Outside toilet. No shower, bring a salt-water-soap and jump into the water. No store or restaurants bring our own food and drink. Bring your own sheet. It is a hostel and you have to clean the apartment before check-out.
